About a year and a half ago, Volkswagen presented its GTI Golf R convertible concept based on the sixth generation of the popular German model at Worthersee Austria.
Despite the fact that the company has unveiled the seventh generation of this hatch, it seems that the roofless Golf R finally sees the light of day, which goes to support the latest video coming out of Wolfsburg.

The model does not differ from the prototype seen last year, with the exception of the spoiler on the trunk lid and the exhaust pipes were placed at the bottom corners of the rear bumper, instead of in the middle.
Probably the last model based on the sixth generation, it brings a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a turbocharger and 267hp under the hood, with the option of 4Motion drive system on all four wheels.

At the presentation of the concept version, Volkswagen announced that the convertible can accelerate to “a hundred” in less than 6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.
The German manufacturer is now a bit stingy on information, but we assume that we can expect an official premiere at the Detroit motor show in January or in Geneva in March next year.
